Mlada Sered

Sered, Slovakia

Non-Governmental Organization Mladá Sered (Young Sered) is a Slovakia-based growing youth organization, founded in May 2012. Its goal is to lift the culture, sport and activities of young people in Western Slovak region. Whereas the town Sered is well known as a drug town in Slovakia, Young Sered wants to make this town a better place to live, to make better conditions for young people, to give them alternative opportunities. Everything blossomed up from an enthusiasm of few young people.

In three years the organisation became popular and supported youth organization, which has already organised art exhibitions, sport competitions, non formal educative events, motivational seminars and it has a great potential and positive way of thinking, too. Young Sered is supported by municipal council and co-work with national institute of youth Iuventa and Youth Council of Trnava region. This year the NGO Mladá Sered/in cooperation with three other NGOs/ run the project of community center where youth should find the place for gathering for cultural and non-formal educational events. In our town Sered, there is no youth center offering some free time opportunities and non-formal educational activities. By this reason Mladá Sered decided to build up this place for young people to grow.

Agenda of the center would be full of courses led by our experienced members. However our leaders have to learn new methods and get some couching skills in guiding and mentoring youth workers, next generation of NGO members and some other volunteers.

Organization Mlada Sered does not have any educational activities in its portfolio at this time. However the members and leaders of NGO have their activities in other organizations such as Youth Council of Trnava Region. For this reason they have the experience with training of trainers and youth workers.

As mentioned, Mlada Sered runs the project of youth center. One of its purposes would be the co-working place as a space for young people to get new skills and competences. For this reason we are looking for possibilities to train our experienced leaders and other youth workers.
